Kaleidoscopes

Remember the thrill of peering through the eyepiece of a kaleidoscope, rotating the end as colored pieces tumbled into magnificent artistic masterpieces? As a kaleidoscope, let us co-create glorious images on the palate of our lives.

It begins with you, your hopes and dreams, your successes and disappointments, and mine. Let’s sprinkle on the glory of God, His Spirit, knowledge and love. Add a pinch of salt, and yes, much humor. Let us trust God in our ramblings as we encourage each other and share life’s precious moments.

Like a kaleidoscope, within these pages a plethora of images will tumble onto these pages—a treasure trove of spiritual sight, blind tips and bloopers, keys to healing, about the author and writing, plus upcoming releases and author events.

Today, I’m thinking Toothpaste—

Do you squeeze your tube of toothpaste in the middle… from the bottom, or top? Being a neat nick, or perhaps because I’m a dental hygienist, I always squeezed it from the bottom and neatly rolled it up as the contents diminish. It worked well for over fifty years… UNTIL a few weeks ago the paste ended up as a blob in the sink and none on my brush. Or the times a tiny bit graced the side of a few bristles. Over and over I began to miss my target—a reasonable amount of paste on my toothbrush.

Okay, so how do totally blind folks get toothpaste on their toothbrush? Such a simple task no longer easy. Fingers? Yes, but messy. Forget it Use brush only? No way. We need the goo and the flavor. Boy, do I admire blind folks for overcoming their struggles and their creativity. Bless them Lord.

So, I found a solution that works for me. Put the opening on the brush, squeeze from the top just under the opening and with only a touch of pressure. Works every time. Here’s one blind author happy again.

Have fun and the next time you brush your teeth, close your eyes when you put on the paste and see what happens. Enjoy, and think of me.
